Adding Effects

We spent a few hours adding effects to the video. We added effects to the intro and the 2 instrumentals. In the intro and 1st instrumental we added flashes of yellow, orange and white and the beats and drop style things just to add spark to it.

In the 2nd instrumental, during the kitchen scene, we added a few blue flashes to contrast with the red creating tension.

These effects were from sir on his memory stick of destiny.

Colour Grading - Church

The grade for the church was the same as the outside grade. We just added the same tint and contrast to the church shots. This meant the colour became greyer.

Colour Grading - Mirror

The colour grading of the mirror was hard as the shots were really graining so we didn't know what to do. What we did we made the shots more crisp and darker to portray the murder. We did this with a dark tint and uped the contrast making it sharper.

Colour Grading - Bathroom

The colour grade of the bathroom was green and grey pulled through. This was created by adding a grey tint and using RGB curves and adding green. We saved these as a preset and added them to all the shots we needed.

Colour Grading - Kitchen

The colour grading off the kitchen was the simplest to do as we had a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve. We wanted to created a grey look but with red shining through portraying death. WE added the outside tint to the shots and then created an RGB curve pulling the red through. This was achieved quite quickly.

Colour Grading - Outside

The Colour Grading for the outside shots were the hardest as the lighting was that inconsistent that messing around with the brightness and contrast wouldn't work.

Firstly, we created a preset tint and contrast and applied them to all the shots. I then altered them so they looked consistent. Following this I added an RGB curve to them, creating a preset, taking out the white making it darker. Due to the bright exposure on the field shots, I couldn't create consistency between the trees, so we took them out and added different shots.

Following this I just tinkered with them to create consistency.

Feedback

After nearly finishing the Grade on the Music video, we got some feedback from sir on what we can improve on. He told us...

  • Sort out the brightness of the field shots in the chorus.
  • Take out the stabbing scene and replace with shots that infer it as it doesn't work.
  • Add a range of transition to create fear and tension during the cutting scene.

Sorting out Videos

After completing the last narrative part of editing we decided before e colour grade it we need to sort it out to make it easier for our selves. What we did was deleted out all the shots we didn't need and dragged the ones we needed down to video channel one. This took absolutely ages! The channels were a mess. Here is what it looks like now. Hopefully This will make it easier to colour grade.

Kitchen editing

After filming sots in the Kitchens of the Priest Killing Jacob, we started to edit them into the 35 second instrumental towards the end of the song. We started by editing in the dragging parts, then the dumping of Jacob on the table, the priest sharpening knifes over him, then Jacob being stabbed, then various shots of Jacob in pain and me with my hand in lots of meat on Jacobs stomach making it look like I had my hand inside him. We got the sequence together matching it to the beat and fitting in the time period in a flowing way.

Here is a picture of the sequence...
